Poetic choreographies on the stave
Description :
Creation time, with free admission, within the framework of the activity «Poiitikoi Dromoi» ("Poetic Pathways"), where a creator reveals which tools psychologically and intellectually they use to craft their work.
As part of this, questions will be posed to them such as:
How does poetry transform into a song?
How is the metered verse set to music, and how is the free verse set to music?
Does the song have a structure, and what is it?
Is the structure the same for all songs?
Does the composer's value system influence this transformation?
Each answer from the composer will be accompanied by an example performed by Giannis Thomopoulos, accompanied on piano by the composer.
The audience will have the opportunity to ask questions related to translating poetic words onto the staff. Additionally, poets in the audience will be invited to provide a quatrain from their poetry to be set to music by the composer on the spot.

This parallel activity is part of the broader framework of an innovative and alternative cultural initiative titled "Poiitikoi Dromoi" ("Poetic Pathways"), which combines poetry with the exploration of public space. It promotes reading, Greek letters, universal values, and an experiential relationship with the environment.
It is characterized by mass participation, wider access to poetry, and the revitalization of the city's cultural experience. It presents art as a vibrant, everyday experience and enhances collaboration, inclusion, and the local economy. It builds cultural bridges within Greece, with a European dimension, welcoming expatriates and philhellenes.
The activity is under the auspices and support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Holy Metropolis of Messinia, and the Municipality of Kalamata, with the support of the Kalamata Community, in collaboration with the Chamber of Messinia.
