Documentary Screening: The Diary of an Exile

Documentary Screening: The Diary of an Exile

Description :

The concert / performance / event will be in the Greek language

A journey between homeland, exile, and music that knows no borders.
On Friday, April 17, the Kalamata Creative Documentary Center presents the documentary "The Diary of an Exile".
The film traces the life and work of revolutionary musician Fuat Saka, who was forced to flee Turkey shortly before the 1980 coup. Through 20 years of exile in Europe, Saka didn't lose his voice; instead, he evolved it. By blending Anatolian traditions with global sounds, he emerged as one of the pioneers of what we now call World Music.
Moving back and forth in time, the documentary captures the ups and downs of a life forged through political persecution and creative exploration.
Join us for an evening of history and music.
