Concert – Fenia Papadodima "Travellin’ All Alone "
Description :
Wednesday, August 12, 2026 | 9:15 p.m.
Victoria G. Karelias Collection of Greek Traditional Costumes
Travellin’ All Alone
Featuring Fenia Papadodima
Inspired by four extraordinary female voices who flourished in different parts of the world during the first half of the 20th century—Billie Holiday, Marika Papagika, Edith Piaf, and Elis Regina—all of whom shared a common dream of singing in New York, Fenia Papadodima created the Travellin’ All Alone Project.
The performance is a musical journey into feminine expression and sensitivity, exploring the remarkable and often challenging lives of these iconic women. Through their most beloved songs, audiences travel to the cities that shaped their lives and artistry: Alexandria, Smyrna, Paris, Rio de Janeiro, and New York.
Original arrangements are interwoven with short narrative texts, allowing listeners to discover fascinating and moving episodes from the artists' biographies, connecting their music with the stories behind their lives.
Eastern gazels, legendary swing, jazz and blues ballads born in Harlem, the timeless melodies of Michel Legrand, and the unmistakable spirit of Antonio Carlos Jobim's bossa nova in 1950s Rio provide the starting point for this unique musical experience.
This rich repertoire is reimagined by an original world jazz ensemble, bringing together four outstanding musicians:
Performers
Fenia Papadodima – vocals
Raphael Meleteas – piano
Giorgos Palamiotis – bass
Dimitris Papadopoulos – trumpet
Panagiotis Kostopoulos – drums

Organizers :
The Victoria G. Karelias Collection of greek traditional costumes was created, initially as a private collection, by the founding member and long-standing president of the Lyceum Club of Greek Women of Kalamata, V. Karelias. The fruit of 50 years of dedicated effort, it was bestowed on the Lyceum, to be henceforth curated by an institution widely recognised for its contribution to the preservation and promotion of Greek tradition. Ever since, as a token of gratitude and based on a unanimous decision of the Administrative Board of the Lyceum, it has born the name of the collector.
The Collection hosts, among other things, periodic exhibitions of important Greek artists that, in contrast to the permanent exhibits, prove that tradition is not a sealed space but a living organism that constantly and diversely interacts with its wider environment and is rediscovered over and over again over the course of time.
