Karelia” welcomes a unique exhibition entitled “From Dawn to Myrtida and from Myrtida to today: the clothes tell a story”. The two famous “daughters”, Avgi, a Mesolithic woman of 7000 BC. from Theopetra to Kalambaka, and Myrtis, a little girl from Athens in 430 BC, meet, for the first time, in the exhibition space of the Collection, bringing to life 9,000 years of costume history.<\/p>\n
Avgi and Myrtis, the clothes of which were edited respectively by costume designer Yiannis Metzikof and designer Sofia Kokosalaki, take their place among the clothes of the Collection, attempting to illuminate the gradual transformation of clothing from a survival tool to a means of expressing internal processes and a carrier of complex social messages. Being two fixed points of reference through time, they become the occasion for an interesting discussion about the primary role of the garment during prehistoric times and its evolution in the historical era based on the available raw materials, the production possibilities and the social ties of the people within their respective living conditions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":16,"featured_media":698,"template":"","tags":[],"location":[142],"event_category":[87],"thematic_areas":[129],"topics":[],"class_list":["post-701","event","type-event","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","location-the-victoria-karelias-collection-of-traditional-greek-costumes","event_category-excibition","thematic_areas-culture-en"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/events.kalamata.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/event\/701","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/events.kalamata.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/event"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/events.kalamata.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/event"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/events.kalamata.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/16"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/events.kalamata.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/698"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/events.kalamata.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=701"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/events.kalamata.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=701"},{"taxonomy":"location","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/events.kalamata.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/location?post=701"},{"taxonomy":"event_category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/events.kalamata.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/event_category?post=701"},{"taxonomy":"thematic_areas","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/events.kalamata.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/thematic_areas?post=701"},{"taxonomy":"topics","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/events.kalamata.gr\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics?post=701"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
