The Tree of Poets
Description :
The planting of an olive tree will mark the end of the first phase of the action "Poiitikoi Dromoi" ("Poetic Pathways"). A gesture full of symbolism.
This tree was donated to the event organizers by Panagiotis Katsaris, an Agronomist and Biotechnologist, Head of Research and Development Projects, at the Olive and Fruit Vegetables Department of the Greek Agricultural Organization (ELGO) "DIMITRA" in Ilyia, Kalamata Campus.
The small olive tree hosts, inside the Cultural Center of Kalamata, poems by students, which is why it has been named "The Tree of Little Poets."
The organizers stated in a related announcement: "On November 15, 2025, we plant the roots of this small olive tree into the land of Kalamata, at the Railway Municipal Park, with the hope that it will take root, flourish, and bear fruit — just as we wish and hope for every cultural collaboration in this place."

This parallel event is part of the broader framework of an innovative and alternative cultural project titled "Poiitikoi Dromoi" ("Poetic Pathways"), which combines poetry with the exploration of public space. It promotes reading, Greek letters, universal values, and an experiential relationship with the environment.
It is characterized by mass participation, wider access to poetry, and the revitalization of the city's cultural experience. It presents art as a vibrant, everyday experience and enhances collaboration, inclusion, and the local economy. It builds cultural bridges within Greece, with a European dimension, welcoming expatriates and philhellenes.
The project is under the auspices and support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Holy Metropolis of Messinia, and the Municipality of Kalamata, with the support of the Kalamata Community, in collaboration with the Chamber of Messinia.
The communication sponsor is ERT Kalamata and ERT3, and it is supported by local media outlets. The main sponsor is the UHU company. Collective organizations, schools, and the artistic and commercial community support the collective effort.
