Book Presentation | Ιn Kalamata with Makriyannis – 200 Years Later

Description :
The Public Central Library of Kalamata, in collaboration with FARIS – the Public Benefit Enterprise of the Municipality of Kalamata, invites you to the presentation of the book by Mariza Dekastro, "24 Images of the 1821 Revolution." The event will take place on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 18:00, in the Black Box space of the Kalamata Dance Hall and is aimed at an adult audience, though young attendees are also welcome.
The book offers a unique journey through 24 colorful images, filled with warriors, horses, cannons, fortresses, rivers, seas, and ships, capturing the dramatic moments of the War of Independence. These images, created by the folk painter Dimitrios Zografos, a comrade of the general Makriyannis, continue to speak of the events from 1821-1830.
The presentation will be a unique opportunity for the audience to "read" these images and discover unknown aspects of history through the author's perspective. At the end, the author will engage in a conversation with the audience and sign her books. The event is supported by the bookstore VIVLIOPOLIS.
Admission is free.
