In honor of World Childhood Cancer Day, observed annually on February 15, the Municipality of Kalamata, in collaboration with the non-profit organization "Every Book a Journey – We Travel with Books," the social cooperative enterprise "Faos," Archegono Kyttaro Aimatos, the Nautical Club of Kalamata "Poseidon," the "Harise Zoi" organization, the SAEK General Hospital of Kalamata, and the Hellenic Sailing Federation, is organizing, for the third consecutive year, the volunteer initiative "Be a Hero for a Child."

This initiative aims to raise awareness and support children battling cancer by assisting the Parents’ Association of Children with Cancer, Floga.

The event will take place on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, outside the Kalamata Spiritual Center—a venue symbolizing intellectual and social connection among citizens.

This effort seeks to:
✔ Increase awareness of childhood cancer
✔ Support public health initiatives
✔ Strengthen social cohesion
✔ Encourage new volunteer bone marrow donor registrations

We invite all individuals aged 18-40, in good health, to take part in this initiative and become a "Hero for a Child" through a simple and painless registration process.

⚠ Registering as a Volunteer Bone Marrow Donor does NOT mean an immediate donation—but it offers a chance to save a child’s life in their fight against blood cancer.

With your support, we can help the children of Floga—and every child battling cancer—find compatible donors and emerge victorious from this difficult journey.
