The Municipality of Kalamata and the University of the Peloponnese await you at the two-day Health Festival on Friday 6 (9:00-13:00) and Saturday 7 June (10:00-14:00).
As part of actions to promote health and raise awareness among children on issues of balanced nutrition and exercise, a comprehensive program of experiential activities will be implemented. Together with the children, we will learn to read nutrition labels and build the “healthy diet plate”. We will play “food games” and answer nutritional riddles. We will also engage in sports, strength, jumping and endurance games and take health measurements.
On Friday, activities and games for schools will be held and the film “The Perfect Meal” of Greek-French production will be screened at the Cultural Center (Screening times: 9:30, 10:30, 11:30).
On Saturday, children and parents will take part in games and a nutrition quiz. In addition, sports activities and a supply of healthy foods (fruit, bagel, flavored water) will be held.
About the National Action against Childhood Obesity:
The National Action to address childhood obesity is the first comprehensive program aimed at preventing and combating it, through the promotion and adoption of healthy eating habits and physical exercise. The Program is implemented by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with UNICEF within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan Greece 2.0 with funding from the European Union – NextGenerationEU. The program involves academics, teachers, professors, health professionals, pediatricians, dietitians, distinguished chefs, parents and children, sports clubs, local organizations and communities. It is the first program to be implemented nationwide, covering the needs of children aged 0-17 and their families, at the level of primary, secondary and tertiary prevention.
